'Textile free' and 'au naturelle' are euphemisms for sunbathing in the altogether, ~ just as nature intended. I have to explain this in plain speak as so many people are sheepish or bashful, and skirt round the question. You wouldn't believe how many people seek clarification or confirmation. Very British. I really hate the words nudist or nudism. It's almost as if it were judgmental and certainly a trifle in your face. But in the absence of better type descriptive words they'll have to do.

THE BEACH AT LA TERRIERE

You'll see from the above what you can reasonably expect to find, except of course at the busiest time of year.

There are many other beaches within easy reach from L'Aiguillon, up to La Faute, where you may relax in complete confidence. There are doubtless many more and you may be able to expand on that. Comments would be appreciated.

It is in my experience that it appears totally acceptable to wander around in the altogether on less populated sections of almost any beach. You will find signs prohibiting naturism on some beaches and as these are usually the beaches "surveille", and it would be best to respect them.

You will inevitably get the odd spectator, but they usually run out of brass neck. It is extremely unlikely that you will find any yobbos at all, with or without strong regional accents (UK or otherwise). Couples or families tend to be the norm. It appears to be a social event. There are no age barriers.
